AECB Member, Pat Borer Receives MBE

Long time AECB member Pat Borer has been awarded an MBE in the New Years honours list.

As many of our members will know Pat has worked with the Centre for Alternative Technology for over 40 years. Working with David Lea he designed the award winning WISE building as well as several other buildings on the CAT site. Over that time he has researched, developed and designed buildings that were at the cutting edge of low impact design. He has also written and co-authored eco building books.

More recently he has concentrated on smaller projects while being a lecturer on various courses at CAT where he is both inspiring and very knowledgable –  both attributes that were very well received by students.

Pat Borer said: “It’s a CAT award as much as anything and without their inspiration and support, this wouldn’t have happened.  Architectural students are taught inside the WISE building so they don’t have to look far for inspiration”.

We offer Pat our congratulations on his award.
