The AECB has developed this on-line database as a resource to display information about the design, construction and performance of low energy buildings. Information about low energy projects can be provided by AECB members who are designing, building or occupying such buildings. The information will be publicly available on the website with the aim of advertising and explaining the actual performance that can be achieved, the energy design standards in use, the construction methods, materials and equipment involved.
Ultimately, the database is intended to achieve several objectives:
- To promote the AECB CarbonLite Energy Standards by detailing the low energy consumption which can be achieved across a large number of projects
- To allow prospective users of the standards to find a project similar to theirs
- To provide sufficient technical detail about the building envelope and mechanical systems to guide the specification of a similar project.
