DIY Airconditioning in B&Q Arghhhh!!

Under £600 and 10,000 sold since Met office heatwave prediction in early May according to h&v news this morning.

A lot of energy consumption was previously prevented by the kit being too expensive for mass market, driers, aircon, bedroom fridges, powershowers.

Went to Comet last night to pick up some printer cartridges, they had stacks of A?C units, didn't look at the price but there were loads of 'em.

I really shouldn't go out! I have been appaled by gas patio heaters for some time and like everything they are no longer limited to expensive restaurants and the super rich. Now I see Woolworths and I assume everyone selling electric patio heaters. Makes amockery of part L refinements.

Calm down Nick, you'll do yourself an injury, agree it's probably a bad idea for you to go shopping. If you need any tips on self sufficiency, knitting etc nip over to Downsizer. Smiley

I don't know what you're talking about. B&Q are on our side! They must be, they sell FSC timber. Are you trying to confuse me?

How's your blood pressure Nick? I don't think you're going to like this:

I've been to more than one party with the sprogs this summer where one of these was sitting turned on for the duration:

www.bouncycastlesales.com/

It appears to be this season's trampoline. Shocked Wonder how many will be sold this year.

We need to make sure some of these bouncy castle catalogues are preserved. In a few million years time, when multicellular life has made a comeback and the planet is dominated by a super-cockroach civilisation, the cockroach paleontologists are going to have a hard time figuring why we just wasted all our resources and collapsed. When they find these catalogues they will understand why it was all worth it. 'Man', they'll say, 'those apes had a lot of fun'. And they will feel a twinge of cockroach jealousy. So shall it come to pass.

Well in a worst case Ross-on-Wye becomes Ross-on-Sea within a few centuries. Less far for Herefordshire folk to go for a paddle I suppose!

I don't even understand the need for air-con. The UK's pretty chilly unless one is standing in the sun or it's a once-in-a-decade heatwave. (For genuine heat, try the USA in summer.)

Due to the UK's coolness, the amount of energy used may be modest. But the spikes in demand mean that large numbers of power stations will need to be fired-up on days of record heat.
