Hi Peter,

I am currently working with a client (another AECB member) to produce a set of working drawings to help them reach the Silver Standard.  I have been on the PHPP course run by the AECB and passed, and put the house in to PHPP and are currently achieving about 21kWh/(m2/a).

How do we go about getting it certified? and how much will it cost to get the certificate?

I am drafting a version of the PH certification FAQ's for Silver Standard certification. It will be for the performance version of the Silver Standard, not prescriptive. It will in most ways be very similar, both for process and cost. Will progress as fast as possible!

Apologies. The Silver Standard is currently being simplified to a performance standard only, based on PHPP & PH certification method. Proposed revisions will go out to AECB members for a consultation period. Timing to be announced.

I have been asked by a friend to do some PHPP modelling for GP surgery that he hopes will meet Carbonlite Silver using the performance route. Who should I speak to regarding the certification, to get an idea of costs etc?

Sorry - just lost the long reply I wrote - argh!

Short reply: assume for now £50 per building (building owner/client must be an aecb member), if not fee would be more like £250 for non members. that answers you question about costs, but not the 'etc'....

Thanks Andy. The Architect is AECB, building owner is not as far as I am aware but I am sure that can be sorted out. Would it be yourself checking the documentation?

On the basis that this is a self certification system, not every entry will be checked, although either I or another of our extended team will cast an eye to pick out 'order of magnitude' errors or issues. At the beginning - when there a just a few certified entries, we will of course be looking at each one to ensure the system is going to be robust. We will also be keeping an eye on the actual database entry looking at performance figures.

I have just approved the expenditure for the work - have been advised by the website company that Silver self-cert system will be up and running before christmas. Anyone ready to go now - we could send you the forms and checklists now and you could trial it for us 'offline'. Email AECB if you want to pursue this....(one person already is)
