LANCASHIRE GROUP up and running from 7th February
« on: October 28, 2010, 10:06:36 AM »
Great news for members in Lancashire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester and surrounding areas!

Peter Stott of EcoDesign has organised the first meeting of the Lancashire Group for early February.

There will be a passivhaus presentation by Peter Wilkinson - who is also an AECB Trustee and will give you an AECB update.

This will be a great opportunity to network with other members and so please let us know if you would be interested in attending group meetings by putting a post here or contacting us directly.

Regards

Jo Saady and Debbie Mauger

PS Further meetings are planned for April, June, October and December so if you would like to receive details of these contact Debbie Mauger

Jo, Debbie

That's good news!  I'm Jon and am project managing the 40 home PassivHaus cohousing development proposed for Halton just outside Lancaster, which is at detailed design stage.  I'd be interested in getting involved with a Lancashire (or Lancashire/Cumbria) local group, but can't offer to do anything for 6 months until we get contracts signed and the build underway.  Then I'm perhaps naively thinking things will calm down a bit!

In the meantime if anyone is interesting in what we are doing have a look at http://www.lancastercohousing.org.uk/

LANCASHIRE MEETINGS 2011
« Reply #5 on: December 20, 2010, 09:38:04 AM »
Hi All,

the first Lancashire meeting has been scheduled for 7th February 2011 at 7:30pm. The venue is still to be finalised but is almost certain to be in the North Manchester/Bury area and will depend on the likely number of attendees.

AECB Company Secretary and Treasurer Peter Wilkinson will give a presentation on Passivhaus construction and standard as well as giving area members an update on current AECB issues.

We are hoping to get 5 events organised through 2011 and will discuss these at the first meeting. Initial proposed dates are:
7th February
11th April
13th June
10th October
12th December

Really looking forward to the first event and hopefully we will get a good response from members interested in coming along. Thanks to all of you who have already emailed me.

Peter

That sounds great, Peter.

Members attending meetings up and down the uk have found Local Groups great for discussing projects, building methods, materials and, of course, for networking/socialising.  Also helpful to learn by others' mistakes and to find out the pitfalls to avoid!

"Organise the meetings and they will come"

Will do, Russell.  Thanks for the reminder.  I shall see if a venue has been decided upon.

If you send me your email address I shall make sure Peter, the organiser, has you on his mailing list.

Hello Lancashire Group; good timing for me to join AECB if you have a group just started! I hope the first gathering went well, and I'd like to join you next time. I'm a former Centre for Alternative Technology MSc student and working on residential retrofit.

Regards,
Andrew
