Would anyone be interested in forming a Wests Mids/Mid Wales group?

Or maybe we could call it the Marches Group?

I'm  in Shrewsbury. Message here or james@j3buildingfutures.co.uk

There is a local Cheshire/shropshire/staffordshire group - met beginning of this month in Chester
I believe seven people from the Shrewsbury/Oswestry area went to that meeting (I could not make it)
As I live near Oswestry and work in Shrewsbury (Baart Harries Newall architects) I would be interested

I can be contacted on 01743 361 261 or studio@bhn.co.uk

Hello James and Robert

That sounds like a wonderful idea.  I can give you some info on getting started and I know that the lady who runs the Cheshire Group would also be pleased to give you some pointers.

I can be contact on debbie@aecb.net or 01256 761499.

The board are getting together next week and I know the lack of a Wales group was mentioned. I shall ask if any members can make it too

I am interested in participating, but it would be good to know the location and perhaps a main theme for the evening.
At the last meeting some members suggested a talk by Andy Simmonds at his office possibly, but I don't know whether anyone approached him or what other ideas are circulating.

Hi Claus (and all in Cheshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire)

The Cheshire Group Leader, Carol, is organising the meeting in Telford and the exact location will be posted here once finalised.

Telford is in Shropshire - as those whose geography is better than mine will know - and if there is enough interest, this may become a new group in the future.  If you would be interested in this, but perhaps cannot make it on 18th, please let us know.

Regards

The Cheshire Local Group - including Shropshire and Staffordshire have a gathering planned at 7pm on 18 January 2011 near Telford

The theme for the evening will be:

“Sustainable Building and Renovation Standards”

Andy Simmonds, Chief Executive of the AECB, will facilitate the discussion and Q&A session.  Simmonds Mills Architects have designed projects to the AECB Silver & Passivhaus energy performance standards and Andy offers insight into the implementation of these standards.

Share your own data and perspective and come with questions!

Venue:  Green Wood Centre, Station Road, Coalbrookdale, Telford, Shropshire TF8 7DR  Details & directions: http://www.greenwoodcentre.org.uk/index.htm

Normally there is a fee for the venue but on this occasion only a charge of £2.50 will be made for tea or coffee.

PS  Is there enough interest for a separate Shropshire Group?

The current group covers all 3 counties – a large area – and some members, particularly in the south, have found difficulties with the travelling distance involved.  If there is sufficient interest, a separate group might enable more active networking to be opened up.  This is the first time we have met in Shropshire and hopefully the venue will be more convenient to the many members.  We look forward to meeting you.

Really sorry to have missed the meeting a couple of weeks ago - I only just heard of it!

I was looking for a local AECB group, having moved to Shrewsbury from London not so long ago...

There doesn't seem to be that many members in total in Chesire, Shrops, and Staffs, so perhaps it makes sense to keep one big group? Easy for me to say I suppose, living as I do roughly in the middle...
