The Stamford Brook Project
« on: February 19, 2007, 12:15:49 PM »
Interesting and worthwhile exercise in monitoring the design and construction and performance of 700 UK dwellings constructed on site over 5 years. I understand that there will be more valuable information on what was learnt on this project coming soon.
Meanwhile, see: http://www.lmu.ac.uk/as/cebe/projects/stamford/pdfs/stambrk1.pdf

Watch this space, meanwhile check that in your designs your party walls will perform well thermally as well as satisfying the requirements for Part E (relating to sound transmission)....

Nice find Andy. After David's posting about this project I to visited the Leeds Met website hoping to find useful info.....failed to find this, and any other nuggets though. ;- )

With you having inspired me to undertake a more detailed Google search I found these:
http://www.rics.org/NR/rdonlyres/26008968-65B5-434C-9C59-D4486F7E1A3B/0/stamford_brook.pdf
www.buildingforafuture.co.uk/spring05/24-46.pdf

Also quite revealing.

Given that the energy concept behind Stamford Brook was heading in the same direction as the Sliver standard, and therefore seems to be quite a significant reference point for the AECB, is anybody aware of any authoritative documentation on this project? (i.e. some published academic studies reporting upon what was learned from the project.)

I was directed to this webpage the other day. It's chock full of goodies on Stamford Brook and its performance successes and failures. So plenty of lessons to learn. Checkout the reports at the base of the page.... not read them yet but they look useful.

Also some useful presentation on the same project are available from here:

I believe Leeds Met produced the final report on the project last week, and it has gone to CLG for vetting/publication in their own good time.

Please all note that AECB has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with LMU and the lessons of Stamford Brook will be closely allied to CLP and its web-site.
