Green Building Store win RISE award for vision and sustainablity.

Award for Lower Royd radical ‘whole house’ retrofit project.

Congratulations go to AECB member, Green Building Store for winning the ‘Vision & Sustainability’ Award at Leeds Beckett University’s  R.I.S.E. (RESEARCH | INNOVATION | SUSTAINABILITY | ENTERPRISE “Celebrating Research and Development”) 2017 Awards.  The award was collected on Thursday 14 September 2017 by Green Building Store product technical specialists Abi Anderson and Emma Platt.

The award was for Green Building Store’s Lower Royd radical ‘whole house’ retrofit project.  The Lower Royd project has involved the radical refurbishment of a Yorkshire farmhouse and barn using innovative internal wall insulation (IWI) techniques. The project has employed a whole house strategy, and was designed using Passivhaus Planning Package The project has built on and developed Green Building Store’s previous work on deep retrofit with challenging solid wall constructions.

The Lower Royd radical retrofit represents a development in Green Building Store’s understanding of the ‘whole house’ radical retrofit approach and developing approaches to minimising moisture risk when using IWI.   The project is helping to inform other radical retrofits and ongoing academic research is being undertaken.
