The Beehive, Cando

C and O Design, Shropshire

Clare says: “I am a registered Architect based in Shrewsbury currently designing and consulting on domestic projects throughout the UK.  I try to promote low energy design and natural building materials through my practice and refer to the AECB’s online resources regularly.  Having taken part in an excellent timber building/breathable construction course at the Holzbau Bildungs Zentrum, Biberach in 2014 I developed my interest in natural building materials.  In 2015 I obtained Passivhaus certification and self built a near Enerphit house as a test bed for my knowledge.  I have joined the AECB community to further learn and share my interest.”

We supply a unique gravity fed rainwater harvest collection system which can be fitted on new builds AND easily retro-fitted into existing homes. It is a great cost effective way to save water and save money! I have worked in the building industry for many years since graduation from UMIST with a BSc(Hons) in Construction and I’ve used the services of AECB for many years too! I am now proud to part of organisation who’s like minded membership can really make a difference. I look forward to meeting some of you soon.”

Graphenstone chosen paint supplier at Park 20/20 built applying Cradle to Cradle principles.

The Graphene Company (London) Limited

Patrick Folkes, Director says “I wanted to explore the opportunity to get involved in an industry with such a negative reputation for pollution and health, with a 100% ecological product which is completely ground breaking. Available in 40 countries globally and now launched in the UK, Graphenstone is a unique range of purest lime paints and coatings, containing nanotech graphene, the strongest element known to science. This fusion of the oldest and healthiest of building materials, with 21st century carbon graphene, has enhanced lime with extreme strength for the first time in history. This extreme durability provides significant savings in both maintenance and snagging time with graphene’s added flexibility reducing cracking and is ideal for both restoration of historic buildings and the improved health of inhabitants of new developments.

With a wide range of certifications including Cradle to Cradle Gold, alongside EPD’s and many European awards, Graphenstone’s breathable paints boast Class 1 strength, in a 100% natural formula, with no VOC’s, formaldehydes or petrochemicals. With high carbon capture from the lime cycle, Graphenstone has created a wide range of unparalleled ecological paints for those with an interest in health, the environment and quality. Introduced to me by Passive House, my interest to join AECB was in order to meet others with an interest in this type of holistic, sustainable products and to learn more about this much needed new approach to building
