Tom Spearing joined the AECB in January 2015. He was introduced to the network via a domestic retrofit project in Hereford, managed by Tom Straker and designed by Simmonds Mills. This ecological refurbishment sought to improve the building’s thermal performance and reduce its carbon footprint, through the installation of air- and wind-tight systems and extensive insulation work.

Tom was employed as a carpenter’s mate and labourer throughout the final five months of the project, working primarily on first fix carpentry, insulation, and fitting drywall. He has since undertaken further retrofit work for Simmonds Mills.
