Gardner & Scardifield Energy, a Sussex based sustainability consultancy specialising in thermal imaging, played its part in helping local property developer QED Ltd to win the Acumen Property Sustainable Workspace Award for The Offices @ 10 Fleet Street close to Brighton station.
QED beat out competition from Bill Dunster’s PortZED, which won the Building of the Future award. The judge, Duncan Baker Brown of BBM Architects said “…there is quite a skill to actually delivering upon high eco credentials.
I was particularly impressed with the preliminary in-use energy figures and their whole approach to the post-occupancy in-use monitoring of the development.
At first glance this modest, almost every day project did not seem particularly noteworthy. However, on close inspection it provides an excellent exemplar that could influence the commercial fit-out and retrofit market.”
Gardner & Scardifield Energy carried out some initial post occupancy energy consumption monitoring and will complete the post occupancy evaluation later this summer with interviews and a property walk around scheduled with the developer and the end users.
