AECB CarbonLite Retrofit Course

First Cohort of Students Provide Positive Feedback on the AECB CarbonLite Retrofit Course

The first cohort of 42 students are currently working through our new CarbonLite Retrofit on-line course which brings together a wealth of knowledge on low energy building retrofit including drawing on Passivhaus Enerphit experience. It is the first advanced retrofit course of this type in the UK, providing the tools to understand how buildings interact with moisture and energy and what makes for a comfortable and healthy environment.

The students are working through on-line modules allowing them to fit the learning around their work or other commitments. At the end of each module, they complete an on-line quiz and at the end of each core module they submit a mini-assignment.  For each of the 5 core modules, there is also a webinar discussion with Course Tutors who provide feedback on the homework and respond to questions raised in the reading.

The course has been designed and developed in parallel to the AECB CarbonLite Self-Certification Scheme, to provide the required knowledge base for Self-Certification.

Students are taking the opportunity to discuss topics on a designated forum with input from tutors and feedback has been very positive so far with one student saying “it’s a fantastic course that covers some really tricky ground – someone’s got to get on and do this so well done!!

Another student says “I’d also like to take this opportunity to add that I am really enjoying the course as a whole and have learned an awful lot, it really makes you start to think and challenge a lot of areas in a very different and more detailed way now as a direct result, from a very personal point of view that is mission accomplished for me, I am really looking forward to the next modules, thanks.”

The next course will start in October 2016. For more details click here.
