Caring Wood is destination for Kent group cyclists

Kent Pedalhaus Tour 2018 visit a Para 55 property, RIBA award winning house

Twenty one cyclists took to the road recently on fat, thin and normal bikes. The group contained architects, engineers, surveyors, builders, plumbers, spouses plus a round-the-world cyclist on his 45,000m bike (he now hires out electric bikes). The hardest part was the private gravel drive to Caring Wood, about a mile long, that really split up the ‘peleton’.

Caring Wood is a stunning new country house on a grand scale. We were amazed at the attention to detail and quality of everything we saw both inside and outside. There is an exceptional tranquillity inside, with beautiful views across the rolling Kent countryside. Outside there are courtyards on each of the compass points with different aspects, plus a shady internal light well with reflection pool that draws cool air into the house by stack effect. There is also a natural swimming pool that was 20 degrees C.

Huge thanks to co-architect James McDonald Wright for showing everyone round.
