A large Passivhaus project results in Tim’s certification.

AECB member, Tim Martel is a freelance Chartered Architectural Technologist and Passivhaus Designer who regularly undertakes work for Simmonds Mills and gives training in the AECB’s REALcosting retrofit software to members through Optimal Retrofit (optimalretrofit.co.uk).

Like all Passivhaus designers, Tim needed to renew his Passivhaus qualification after 5 years so was lucky to be able to work on a large Passivhaus project rather than collect points from CPD courses which can be the more difficult route.  The project was a detached, two storey build in Wrexham where Tim worked as the PH designer carrying out initial energy calculations and modifying the build as appropriate.  He was delighted to see the project certified as a Passivhaus in 2016 which allowed him to apply for his own Passivhaus certification to be extended.
