Tree Tops is a replacement dwelling in Gloucestershire replacing an old damp cottage. We were instructed by the clients to design and build a low energy, passivhaus, timber frame family home.
Working closely with the clients we were able to design their dream home within a restricted budget but still maintaining the low energy requirements. This project is a fantastic example that building a sustainable and low energy project is not as expensive as one may assume.
The Bunkhouse is a low energy dwelling built to act as temporary family accommodation for the clients whilst the existing cottage is demolished and rebuilt as a Passivhaus. The building has been designed and built with the future use of a work space in mind once the main house has been built.
The garden room is a timber frame construction with cellulose insulation installed to protect the library of books it will be housing. The design enjoys beautiful views of the Wye Valley and is clad in larch to ensure the aesthetics from an exterior view point.
