Grade 1 listed Plas Nanteos Mansion and associated Stables had suffered decades of neglect and poor adaptation.
Catalina and our design team partners were engaged by the owners to help realise their vision of creating a comfortable, beautiful, remarkable, country-house hotel. The project involved comprehensive conservation, repair and upgrading of the property.
Catalina were project architects for the conservation, repair, and upgrading of this Grade II listed country house in Ceredigion.
The house, as well as requiring repair to ensure water-tightness, needed an aesthetic overhaul. A new kitchen was fitted, as well as bespoke bathrooms throughout.
Works included renewal of all roof finishes, structural repair, repairs to windows & doors, all new services (electric, plumbing, heating), internal remodelling, redecoration, reconfiguring the driveway and landscaping. Also, the addition of a tennis court and stables.
Conservation and repair to this sixteenth century hall-house included re-roofing, structural stabilisation, removal of cement- based mortars and renders, re-pointing and exterior finishes in lime products. The project was part funded by Cadw and the Snowdonia National Park Authority, with guidance and advice provided by Ty Mawr Lime (Brecon) and Terry Hughes (historic roofing consultant). The house continues as farmhouse to Bryn Dinas working farm.
