Easter Garlyne takes as its starting point two simple agricultural shed structures; living and sleeping that link together to provide a sheltered outdoor entrance court.
The sleeping wing provides shelter from the north while the living wing is orientated to focus views towards the Cairngorm mountains.
The building exterior resembles a contemporary version of a simple local steading: clad in Scottish larch timber with a grey metal roof and belies a sophisticated timber frame construction based on energy and environmental principles to create a super-insulated home, airtight and energy efficient, to ensure low carbon footprint & low running costs.
