A pioneering green architect, I work on award-winning buildings, masterplans and urban regeneration. As an architect, consultant and client design/sustainability champion projects including zero carbon housing and other buildings, and local authority policy. Through design, teaching, and research I’ve always championed sustainability, winning the national RIBA Sustainability Award in 2005.
After architectural training in Nottingham I joined Associated Architects, rising to Associate and Partner/Director in 2000. I’ve designed a wide range of award-winning residential, urban regeneration, educational and arts buildings. Since 2009 I’ve worked freelance to focus on my real passion – the intersection of design and sustainability.
I offer full architectural services, can work flexibly, and advise on design brief, appropriate and measurable environmental standards, appointment of architects and design team in collaboration where appropriate, procurement/building contracts, ongoing design champion and project sustainability champion services.
My zero carbon house was UK’s first retrofit to Code 6 zero carbon standard, with RIBA & Civic Trust awards. The Times commented “I’ve seen the future – and it’s in Birmingham.”
