Abstract
Statistical data on energy consumption of the residential and tertiary sector are only available to a limited extent. Therefore, the objective of the study was to obtain reliable, representative and internationally comparable energy-related data using empircal surveys which were conducted by the GfK. For the residential sector, the extrapolation of the survey data resulted in detailed energy consumption data by energy carriers, end-uses, and building types. For the tertiary sector, detailed energy consumption data by fuel types and end-uses at the level of 12 important branches were derived from the survey. The use of biofuels for heat production was investigated in detail in an additional survey.
