Energy Saving Trust – Green Deal support for SME’s in London

The Energy Saving Trust is launching a new package of support which will prepare construction and home improvement-based SMEs located in London for new business opportunities, including those arising from the Government’s flagship energy efficiency policy, the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO). There are a wide range of opportunities  for small businesses within the home retrofit sector and this is will only increase with the launch of the Green Deal and ECO in the coming months. We will explain what the Green Deal is, who it is for as well as what and where the opportunities are. We will also look at the potential market and consumer attitudes, and how certification and different delivery routes can help you take advantage of the Green Deal.

This free support will be delivered through a series of three workshops under the Institute for Sustainability’s FLASH programme, a part-ERDF funded programme aimed at improving London-based SMEs’ environmental efficiency and gearing them up for new opportunities arising in the low carbon sector. It is aimed at those in the construction trades: builders, plumbers and installers of insulation, heating, lighting and glazing products.

These workshops will build awareness of the opportunities in the retrofit sector and especially highlight how the  Green Deal and the ECO could change this market in the next few years. We want to highlight the London specific opportunities, outline what certification might be required, highlight best practice, look at working with other trades and provide an opportunity to meet potential clients.
