The Enterprise Centre Site Tours – Norwich

Tours will provide an opportunity to gain an understanding of the latest design and build progress.  The tour dates specified below will provide you with the opportunity to see first-hand the innovative timber frame structure and low carbon concrete foundations.  The morning tours will also include an opportunity to take part in a Q&A session with the design team.

Natural materials in the built environment

Using The Enterprise Centre as a case study, this seminar will provide an overview of the use of local timber, hemp, straw, thatch, and other materials in modern construction

Retrofitting the UK’s building stock – what are the options?

What are the options for retrofitting and what is the best strategy to adopt?  This seminar also considers how ‘deep’ you need to refurbish, the most cost-effective options, and whether the Green Deal offers a way forward.

The value of green buildings

This seminar provides an overview of what ‘green’ buildings are and how they can add value to owners and occupiers.  Using the frameworks of BREEAM, LEED, Passivhaus and other environmental rating systems for buildings, delegates will gain an insight into the benefits and factors affecting the value of green buildings.

Introduction to Passivhaus and low carbon buildings

What is considered a low carbon building, and does Passivhaus provide a clear way forward?  Using The Enterprise Centre as an example of how low carbon thinking has evolved from reducing operational energy towards the Passivhaus standard, this seminar explores the reasoning behind the brief and the design team’s response.
