AECB Bristol/Bath Local Group – Meeting: Intro to Structures for PassivHaus
January 29 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm£13.52
Local group leader, Beth Williams is a Chartered Engineer and Certified PassivHaus Designer – the only dual qualified structural engineer in the country (at last count)! Beth specialises in low-energy and low-carbon construction, particularly PassivHaus buildings, with a particular interest in timber engineering.
Beth will be sharing her experience and learning through case studies of a range of projects, and talking about the details – and limitations – of what structural engineers know. We are also interested in your experience of working with structural engineers on low-energy/low-carbon projects. Beth is keen to start a discussion on how we can integrate structural engineers more thoroughly with the sustainable building sector, to improve the design experience and construction quality in this sector.
This event will be an ‘introduction’ to a longer talk/workshop run in conjunction with the Green Register in March, where we will talking in more detail about specific structural principles and how the are affected by low-energy/low-carbon construction methods. More info on that event can be found here.
A rough format of the event is as follows
- 30mins – Drinks, food & networking (this will be a full meal, cost included in the ticket price)
- 15-30mins – Presentation by Beth
- 30-45mins – Discussion on topic
- 30mins – Close discussion and final networking
All AECB Local Group events are open to both AECB members and non-members.
Vegan food options will be available.
