mini Clayfest 2019, Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth, Wales
June 21 - June 23
Hello Earth Building enthusiasts, and welcome to EBUKI mini Clayfest 2019! – International Festival of Earthen Architecture in Machynlleth, Wales.
Following the last four years’ tremendous successes in Scotland, Cumbria, Lincoln and Wexford, we are delighted to be holding 2019’s event, from the 21st to the 23rd June at the incredible Centre for Alternative Technology. This central location not only brims with life, but also LOTS of public earth buildings.
This year we are taking a simpler approach to Clayfest, just a day of conference and a day of workshops. We have been running at full speed for the past 4 years, producing fantastic events in Scotland, England and Ireland, hundreds of hours of workshops sharing a wide range of skills and experience with hundreds of learners, from the highly skilled to the ‘just getting started’. Clayfest has blazed a trail to skills in new build, in conservation, in finishes and textures, in the unknown like turf and the ‘really needs to be known like wattle and daub. This year we are taking time to reflect on what we have done and how to do it better so our smaller program will be focusing on training and training for trainers, with European partners on the JUMP!
Last year Clayfest got a lot of great feedback, most people rated it as very good or excellent, 80% said they would recommend Clayfest to others. It’s a chance to try things out with a group of experts working together, asking and answering questions over four days, the biggest earth building event in the UK and Ireland!
