Local Group Visit 1950s House EnerPHit Retrofit in Derby – 1st Sept 2012

The Nottingham and Milton Keynes AECB Local Groups have organised a site visit of a 1950’s home currently undergoing a Passivhaus EnerPHit retrofit.
On Saturday 1st September, from 10 am-12.30 pm, AECB members have been invited by Kate Ball to visit her East-West facing detached house in Derby at 19 Thornhill Road, DE22 3LX – just off the A38 on the West side of Derby.
Retrofit measures include exceptional insulation, good airtightness, MVHR, water saving measures, a new boiler and solar PV.

The completed property will include a two extra bedrooms extension onto an 1980s single storey extension. The retrofit includes insulation under floors, warm roof, external wall insulation (and some cavity wall insulation- the original construction may be of interest), Passivhaus suitable triple glazing, new boiler but some old radiators retained, lots of water saving improvements, recycled solar PV and future proofing for solar DHW
