Visit ‘Reform Cottage’ in Herefordshire.
March 18, 2018 @ 11:00 am
Join the 3 Counties Group for a deep retrofit, work in progress visit.
THIS EVENT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO SNOW – WILL BE REARRANGED SHORTLY
You are invited to visit the deep retrofit of a family home in progress. Reform Cottage was a small dwelling originally built in 1838, extended at the beginning and the end of the 20th century.
The owners chose this property on the basis of it’s location, setting and the opportunity to retrofit to a high level.
All the thermal envelope work has been completed and the fitting out is moving along. The visit will give a chance to see how the work has been done. The process of certifying to Enerphit has begun. Gervase Mangwana, the owner and builder Tom Straker (local group member) will be there to answer questions.
Gervase has been actively involved in his Manchester Carbon Co-op, and has worked on retrofits in Manchester including their existing home featured in this Carbon Co-op video. He was involved in the development of My Home Energy Planner (MHEP) and carries out assessments for the Carbon Co-op.
MHEP is an online SAP based assessment tool that the Carbon Co-op is socially franchising to other similar organisations up and down the country. It may be of interest to anyone interested in low energy retrofit in the area who see the potential for a similar model here.
Little Birch Rd
The house is on the junction of Little Birch road with Parish Lane and Wrigglebrook Pitch. Boots and warm clothing recommended. Join us!
We ask all who attend our visits for a donation to the Group’s funds [£3 suggested]. We will provide drinks and nibbles.
Parking – there are a number of spaces on site but, as usual, if you can possibly organise car sharing please do. If you would like to coordinate for transport or can offer a lift, please contact Neill Lewis.
Future Events: As always, please let us know if you have any suggestions for projects or events that would interest our members.
