I want to fit something to block a chimney intermittently, i.e. when the fire is not in use. I see you can get balloons that can be used over and over, but this will be messy and inconvenient. The fireplace in question is an inglenook with a flared hood leading to a crude asbestos sheet panel, which would seem like the right place to fit something (and get the asbestos removed at the same time. The chimney is of red brick, of uncertain vintage, probably 19th C. (Don't worry about giving me advice on asbestos). Does anyone know of a suitable gadget?
Last time I posted a topic my name didn't appear. So I am Peter Smithdale.
Still no user name, I think you'd better contact Tom:
