        Hi,

Thanks for agreeing to circulate our enquiry

I work at Culeper Community Garden in Islington. We are replacing a very old wooden shed with a small new building for community use (tool store/community room/admin area/disabled access loo).

We have decided that the building will be made of rendered concrete with 'green' walls and roof.

We are interested to know if there are any products on the market that make use of recycled materials, and if there is much variation in terms of environmental impact in different concrete products..what factors should we consider etc.

Any suggestions or ideas gratefully received.

        Many thanks

        Kate Bowen

You could also look at the possibility of using 'limecrete'  – i.e. replacing the portland cement element with hydraulic lime.  Ian Pritchett recently discussed the benefits of lime in BFF. You would have to check the specification with an engineer.
