We are considering having a small extension built which would involve building into our patio area, extending both our back room and kitchen to make a larger combined room, and remodelling the kitchen.

We would prefer to use builders who are knowledgeable about issues regarding sustainability and green considerations and will work with those in mind.

We have some plans drawn up by an architect but these are flexible . We have been in touch with Brent (our local council) who say that planning permission is likely to be given as long as the wall nearest our neighbours is no more than two metres high and the wall attaching to the house is no more than three metres high.

The house is a small terrace in Neasden, N.W.10. It is one of the old “railway cottages” and is part of a conservation area.

We do not plan to spend more than about 24k

We have not yet made a final decision about whether to go ahead. If we do we would like to building work to start around April/ May 2015.

Would anyone on this forum be interested in this?

        Thanks,

        Ian Saville and Pam Laurance.
