I need to insulate a commercial property with fibre-concrete roof sheeting supported on 9″ timber joists. There's no need for ventilation, as there's only room for 6″ worth of insulation between the joists. Should the insulation be shoved right up to the roofing sheets, or is there an advantage to leaving a gap?
The building suffers both from serious cold in winter and serious overheating in summer. Would leaving a gap make more of a difference to one than t'other?
