I have a very basic question. Do MVHR ducts need cleaning? If so, how often, and how is this done? Does it affect the choice of trunk and branch/metal/rigid versus radial/plastic/semi-rigid choice? I can’t find discussion of this anywhere.
My daughter recently bought a flat with an old (2008) MVHR system, that had not been maintained. Cleaning the unit and replacing filters was reasonably straightforward, but how to clean the ducts? And indeed do they need cleaning?
As we are now looking at a new MVHR design for a small new build, I can’t work out what designs would facilitate duct cleaning in the future, or whether this needs to be factored in to the design choices. Does anyone have any experience or views on this please?
