        Does anyone have experience in getting Straw Bale buildings insured during and after the build process. All the the Self Build Insurance companies tried have refused.

          We used NFU but I heard (from you Geoff?) that they don't anymore. How about at least trying ETA (Environmental Transport Association). Presume you asked the Ecology BS.

            We built a Timber frame straw bale house last year for a client near aberystwyth.
            It was a self build project and the client used the ecological building society for a mortage. I believe the client got insurance through the straw bale association. Only a little bit more expensive than standard self build insurance due to 'increased' fire risk
