AECB Member Wins Award for Leadership in Leading Wales Awards
Joyce Morgan-Gervis, from Ty-Mawr Lime Ltd, Brecon, has been recognised for showcasing extraordinary leadership by winning a high profile Leadership award, sponsored by the CIPD, at this year’s Leading Wales Awards, in association with Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Joyce who is Managing Director of Ty-Mawr Lime was praised by judges as an “incredible example of talent and leadership that has made a real contribution to the Welsh economy.”
Joyce commented: “I accepted this Leader for the Future award on behalf of the whole team at Ty-Mawr Lime Ltd. My husband, Nigel (co-founder and Technical Director), and I have worked hard for over 20 years to help to move the green agenda forward in Wales and indeed the UK, and all at Ty-Mawr play and have played an important part in our growth and success. I feel proud however to have my skills and particular contribution to the business recognised with this award. Nigel and I both feel privileged to be in a position of leading a business that has made a significant contribution to the green building sector, and at a time when Wales itself is leading the world in developing a Green Nation!”
Joyce added: “Green runs through our blood, from the products we make, to the way we heat our buildings, to the packaging we buy, the food we eat, to how we recycle. It all matters, it all contributes in a small way to a better world, and to me personally the most satisfying aspect of running Ty-Mawr Lime is demonstrating that it is possible to run a profitable business whilst caring for the environment and operating ethically.”
Joyce concluded: “I like to think we are doing for building products what Rachel’s Organics did for food, what Howies did for organic clothing, what Riversimple is doing for green transport – small Welsh businesses are showing innovation and leading us all towards a greener future!”
The Leading Wales Award came in a week when Ty-Mawr Lime Ltd had also been named as the only Highly-Commended Runner-Up in the internationally-renowned Ashden Awards at a prestigious event held at The Royal Geographical Society in London. Established in 2001, the Ashden Awards are a globally recognised measure for excellence in the field of green energy.
