Three Counties Group
Who are we are and what do we do? We promote sustainable building practice and the aims of the AECB at a local level. The Group has a catchment encompassing Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, approx. 55 miles by 55 miles. This means that travel times can be long, so we try to spread meetings widely to give more people an opportunity of taking part at some time during the year. Our membership is probably split equally between AECB and non-AECB. We have a broad age range, with a spread of interests including professionals, students, self-builders and enthusiasts not involved with building. Our main activity is a series of visits to interesting projects, either under construction or complete, which demonstrate the best [and sometimes not-so-good] eco principles. We have tried to maintain a diverse range of subjects and have been to Passivhaus and Enerphit buildings – mostly, but not always, houses, Neil’s Yard Creamery and Pontrailas Wetland water management scheme. We also aim to provide workshops, presentations and discussions.
Meet the group leaders:
“Hi, I’m Neill Lewis. I was an AECB Steering Committee member and then a Trustee from 1993 – 2014 and an Architect specialising in genuinely low energy buildings. I retired in 2016.”
“Hi, I’m Ruth Busbridge, a self builder who commissioned and now lives in Hereford’s first certified Passivhaus. I first joined the AECB while studying for a Masters degree at the Centre for Alternative Technology.”
Ideas and suggestions for the group are very welcome.
There are no upcoming events at this time.
