What do we do? Our group meets up informally to share knowledge and ideas for sustainable building. We try to make our events varied with talks, visits, walks and even the odd practical. We’ve been to ancient woodland, the Olympic Park, the most airtight home in the UK, heard from architects, photographers, environmental specialists and learnt to apply SIGA tape. We try to tailor events to current members so let us have any suggestions!.

Meet the group leader:

“Hi, I am Alan Budden, an architect who specialises in low energy eco homes.  I like nothing more than to combine my architectural skills with my environmental knowledge to develop houses into fun, healthy, ecologically sound, low carbon homes.  I am a Chartered Architect, and Certified European Passivhaus Designer.  I started Eco Design Consultants in 2008 by combining my experience of housing, modern methods of construction & environmental design.  I was the architect for Stewart Milne’s Sigma Home, at the BRE innovation park in Watford and designed one of the UK’s most airtight Passivhaus’ for Milton Keynes Parks Trust, a full Passivhaus retrofit in London, and the third certified Passivhaus Plus house in the UK.  I also enjoy lecturing on sustainability at various universities.”
