The aims of the Local Group are threefold:
1. To share sustainable building knowledge with other like-minded people and promote best practice.
2. To build a strong network of sustainable building professionals in the local area.
3. To influence local sustainable building policy through engagement with local councils and policy-makers.

The group events will be a mixture of site visits and discussion events based around themes important to local group members. Group events will be located across the area – with the particular focus being on Bristol, Bath and West Wiltshire. Please see below for the latest Local Group event in the area.

If you would like to lead a discussion on a topic of interest to you, or have any projects which the Local Group would be able to visit, please contact the group leader below.

As with all AECB Local Groups, events are open to both AECB members and non-members.

Twitter: @BethWilliamsSE

Beth is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Certified PassivHaus Designer, and associate at Build Collective, a bespoke engineering consultancy based in Bristol.

Beth has over 10 years’ experience in low-energy and low-carbon design and construction, focussing on timber frame PassivHaus buildings. Her project experience ranges from domestic extensions to new build sports halls and high security NHS facilities.

Alongside practice work, Beth is a visiting tutor at Bath, Cardiff and UWE architecture schools, and group leader for the AECB Bristol & Bath local group. Beth is passionate about making low-energy buildings simple to build, affordable and available to all.

Aside from work, she is in the (slow) process of a staged retrofit of her own 1960s terraced house, where she is aiming for the AECB Building Standard
