Welcome to our new Development and Communications Manager, Daniel Purchase.

Daniel joins us as a full time member of staff from 1st July.

We are delighted to announce that Daniel will be joining us from 1st July although he is already getting to grips with the role and meeting staff and Trustees.

A politics and history graduate, Daniel went on to work briefly for the civil service before moving to Austria in 2012 where he joined ISWA – International Solid Waste Association as a project assistant, moving on to become Communications Manager in 2014. He is accustomed to the nature of working for an association and is looking forward to the interesting and exciting challenges posed in the position at AECB.

Daniel has most recently been working on an initiative to close waste dumpsites, some of the world’s most polluted places. The campaign aims to close and replace dumpsites with sustainable alternatives. It also aims to relocate informal waste-pickers from the hazards of garbage dumps and into formal employment in sustainable recycling facilities. Garbage dumps currently affect the daily lives of 64 million people worldwide and are on course to account for 10% of all Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2025. Daniel has been working on the communications aspect of this initiative for the last year, you can see more on the project’s website at closedumpsites.iswa.org.

Daniel will be working alongside our existing staff team to drive an increase in retained and new membership and market the AECB to an even wider audience as well as working on some exciting projects planned for these next 12 months.
